Winter Olimpics 2026
In 2026 Verona will take a center stage in the Winter Olympic Games Milano-Cortina and the Arena will serve as backdrop for the celebrations.
On February 22nd, in the Arena di Verona will take place the final ceremony of the Olimpic events, while on March 6th, also in the Arena, the Paralympic Games will begin.
Built in the 1st century AD, the Verona Arena hosts unforgettable opera performances and concerts every year, but for the first time it will provide the setting for an Olympic ceremony: a major event that will unite sport, art and history in the heart of Veneto. The city's iconic monument will be transformed into a contemporary and inclusive open-air stage, honoring the values of the Olympics and Italy's cultural heritage.
The show titled "Beauty in Action" is set to be a grand tribute to the beauty of Italy in all its forms: natural landscape, art, culture, sport. The Arena's central stage will take the shape of a drop of water, symbolizing the link between the mountains, the Alpine lakes and rivers, and the Po Valley:
a visually striking concept in which water acts as the connecting element between Italy's landscapes.
Among the evening's stars the dancer Roberto Bolle, who will play a central role in the main performance. The former Etoile of La Scala di Milano Theater, with his extraordinary interpretative talent and his devotion to dance is indeed the ideal figure to embody the bond between art and sport.
The Arena will host a unique collective celebration: athletes and sports enthusiasts from all over the world will parade together, as sport makes way for celebration, gratitude and well-wishing for the future.
