BORGHETTO AND SIGURTA' PARK

Borghetto is a handful of small houses and old mills along the Mincio river, surrounded by medieval walls, a small church, a small stone and wooden bridge and the Visconti fortified bridge. The word Borghetto is of Longobard origin and means fortified village. Kings and emperors, merchants and pilgrims have passed through here. This charming village looks like a landscape by Claude Monet and offers enchanting views of the river and the countryside.

One of the most beautiful parks in Italy, the Sigurtà Garden, is not far from here, in Valeggio sul Mincio: 60 hectares of lawns, flowers of various species, shrubs, trees and exotic plants such as Japanese maples, ponds with water lilies and lotus flowers, the extraordinary flowering of the tulips, and then the avenue of roses with the Scaligeri Castle as a backdrop.

At the end of the itinerary, I suggest a lunch in one of the local restaurants to taste the culinary speciality of Valeggio, the tortellino, strictly handmade and, according to the legend, called "the knot of love".

For those who love nature and good food this is the perfect tour!
